Our Paper Cuts collab with Kneeland Co. features a postcard set with bold vintage prints as colorful and unique as the textile brand itself. Printed on our signature double thick eggshell paper and featuring five unique patterns, there’s always a perfect print for a handwritten card.
Kneeland Co’s creative force Joanna Williams takes it from here, talking textiles and the magic of a handwritten note.
Meet Kneeland Co. Founder Joanna Williams
Describe the creative space at your company.
Chaotic organization with every color of the rainbow present, lots of inspiration boards, tear sheets and books galore, all surrounded by textiles.
Be Honest Be Bold
Branding is __________.
Communicating a vision that is unique and personal to you and your business.
How does your brand convey its unique personality?
It’s important to me to still be the face behind my brand. Five years in I can see the business gaining momentum, which makes my job busier and more difficult, but I still believe that I am the best representation of what my brand is. If I’m in front of my clients, showing truly special textiles that make me incredibly happy, I think that comes across as being honest, genuine, and unique.
The Devil is in the Details
Joanna designed five unique artwork variations available in each set. Each set of 10 cards measures 4 x 6 inches, comes wrapped in a printed bellyband with envelopes, and is printed on our trademark double thick eggshell paper stock.
What do you love about what your company brings to its customers?
Every piece has been chosen thoughtfully-- my favorite part of the business is sourcing textiles. I love finding something beautiful that might otherwise go to waste. I enjoy seeing how something like a print or embroidery can be inspiring to a client. It’s incredibly gratifying when someone purchases a piece that they think is perfect for their brand.
Pardon Our French Traditional Postcard Backs on Each Card
What’s an old fashioned charm you’ll never give up?
Sending thank you notes.
The Art of Brevity
Describe your personal aesthetic in three words.
Colorful, Artful, Evolving
What are your design inspirations?
There is a Paul Smith book titled, "You Can Find Inspiration in Everything", and I think that rings true for me. Thoughts, people, places, ideas and things inspire me. My business is focused on finding inspiration for private clients (the textile studio), and I also have the online marketplace (Mercado), which is available for anyone who loves to shop for handmade goods and accessories from around the world.
I’m very drawn to vintage and items that tell a story or a have a past, and also items that might not seem so obviously beautiful but have depth and can be translated into a new idea.
