We are longtime fans of Block Shop's bright geometric patterns. So when it came time to get started on our Paper Cuts collaboration, we wanted to include as much of their beautful original artwork as possible. These unique stationery sets feature 4 cards with bold watercolor paintings and matching lined envelopes, all printed on our signature eggshell paper. Photos of Block Shop by Laure Joliet.
Fabric swatches, ranunculus arrangement, Textiles of the Islamic World, a tangle of chargers and USB stuff, customs bills from FedEx, and watercolors.
Lots of natural light, Jaipur pink and indigo, plants, books, our dogs Otto and Dolly, and music (Big Bill Broonzy is good work vibes). Stacks on stacks of textiles.
Our relationship with our team in India. Block Shop is one big, complex family spanning two continents.
Sketchbooks for notes and drawings. I think better when I'm writing longhand, and rely on my notebooks as an archive for ideas for textiles and paintings.
Nothing compares to the beginning of each trip to India, when we’re full of new ideas.
What are the most exciting developments in your industry?
Consumers’ interest in supply chain transparency. Working conditions in textile manufacturing are so often abhorrent yet invisible to the end consumer.
What brought you to Paper Chase Press?
They’re a beloved LA institution, synonymous with quality. They’ve been doing all our collateral since we moved to LA in 2014, so this collaboration was a natural evolution. Plus, local family biz all the way.
How does your brand convey its personality?
As a sister-run business, our brand is so personal. It’s an ethos that bleeds into everything we do, from customer service emails to daily interactions with our FedEx delivery guy, Speedy. Kindness and a sense of humor are our point of departure.
