“I want to document our culture on our terms, beyond trends and algorithms.” – Mike Nicholls, Founder/Designer
Founded in 2017, Umber is more than a magazine, it’s a gathering space of paper and ink made by and for artists of all kinds. From designers, to musicians, to dancers, the voices in Umber ask us to think deeply about the future of media while also building a cultural archive of art and questions that have shaped us.
Umber announces itself on any bookshelf with its proud and sturdy trim size of 9x12, and its 200 pages of brilliant color and exciting type design. The pages are printed on 60lb smooth text paper, while the cover is on 130lb Vellum textured stock with a flood satin varnish to keep it vibrant for years.
